The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has contracted through ZemiTek partnered with CAMRIS International, to recruit and hire a qualified individual for the following position:


Title:  Graphic Designer

The Economic Growth, Environment, and Agriculture EGEA) team is part of the Bureau for Africa’s Office of Sustainable Development (AFR/SD). The EGEA team provides analysis, develops policy and supports USAID’s agriculture and food security programming in the Africa region. The team works closely with the Bureau for Food Security (BFS) which has the mandate for overall implementation of the United States Government’s Feed the Future/Global Food Security programs. The team also coordinates with USAID field missions, regional organizations, private sector, civil society, multilateral institutions and other partners. The team’s responsibilities include providing technical support to field missions in agriculture and food security strategy, design and programming.


AFR/EGEA seeks an experienced graphic designer to support a knowledge management project. The designer will work collaboratively with a research consultant to create a template for the primary project deliverable (which is envisioned as a printed “baseball deck” or small ringed binder, i.e. a smaller version of a flip chart) and modify and customize the template for 30-40 countries in Africa. The baseball deck provides critical data and information on USAID Africa mission economic growth programs, including staff, budget, programs and results to date. The deck will help to inform decision making and analysis across missions.



The period of performance shall be up to 50 days.



  • Develop a template to present a broad array of qualitative and quantitative data in a simple, concise, and visually appealing format that can be printed in a baseball deck or small ringed binder/flipchart format. The template and printed “cards” will be done for 30-40 African countries and will utilize JPEG/PNG files for all graphics[1].
  • Work collaboratively with the research consultant, team leader, printing office, and other staff to create the template and project deliverables.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to monitor project progress.


[1] The cards will be printed by the USAID print shop so no cost to ZemiTek. The consultant will need to have their own software.




  • Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design, or related field
  • 8 years of experience in graphic design or a related field
  • Expert-level knowledge and independent access to Adobe creative suite, especially InDesign.
  • Understanding of file/color formats, specifically for correspondence with printers and clients.
  • Hyper attention to detail, especially with numbers and quantitative data.
  • Experience creating new templates and formats for knowledge managements projects, especially in non-traditional printed formats, such as flipcharts.
  • Experience working with public policy—especially international development-- or business consulting clients, and helping them turn complex data points into visually compelling and meaningful stories.
  • Experience interpreting excel spreadsheets and converting data into different types of charts and graphs.
  • Experience working with the USG—especially USAID—a plus.
  • Experience adhering to corporate branding standards.
